The cause of plantar fasciitis
The most common cause of plantar fasciitis is repeated tugings of the plantar fascia, causing repeated small tears that can lead to pain. Heel spurs, once considered a hallmark of fasciitis, are unlikely to be caused by plantar fasciitis, according to strong new evidence that they are caused by compression, not tension.
